Hello and welcome.
I am Professor Hyun Kim head of the ICT Convergence Research Center at the Korea National University of Transportation.
Firstly, I deeply thank you for your interest and support for our research center and welcome you to our website.
Our research center was established on June 1, 2013 for the purpose of conducting research and developing projects related to Information Communcations
Technology (ICT) convergence with road, rail, and pedestrian transport networks.
Our research center has a good track record of success, including developing a platform for reporting unexpected traffic jams using crowd-sourced information.
One of the most exciting developments in transport in recent years has been the development and emergence of autonomous vehicles, and the resulting mobility challenges that come with the new technology.
Both human-powered and vehicles fitted with autonomous driving systems will need to co-exist for many years, and will provide safer and more convenient mobility than human-driven vehicles alone.
Since 2019, our research center has collaborated with indstrial partners to develop 5G-based cooperative autonomous driving technologies using artificial intelligence. Since this time, we have been based out of our research space at the LG Science Park in Gangseo district, Seoul.
We continue to expand our research fields to autonomous driving systems and AI driving verification systems, mobility service technologies, and safety engineering for railroads and autonomous vehicles.
